Privacy Policy

1. Overview
AKARI (the "Service") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information across the Service: the desktop application, the cloud service (cloud.akari-oss.app), and the website (akari-oss.app).
The Service is designed local-first. Content you create (documents, videos, images, etc.) is stored on your device; only the minimum data required for processing is sent to our servers when you use cloud features.
2. Information we collect
(a) Account information
Your email address at registration (used for one-time-code authentication).
(b) Billing information
Credit usage history and subscription status. Credit card details are never stored on our servers; they are processed by our payment processor (Stripe).
(c) Usage data (telemetry)
To improve product quality, the desktop application sends us:
- A pseudonymous install ID (randomly generated on your device; not linked to your name or email)
- Event types (app launch/exit, app install/update, etc.) and timestamps
- App / shell versions
- OS type and version, CPU architecture, device type
- Language preference and timezone
- Country/region (estimated server-side from the connection IP address; the IP address itself is never stored)
What we do NOT collect: the content you create, file names, typed input, or personal identifiers such as your name. The text of AI inputs/outputs is not stored unless you explicitly opt in (and even then it is automatically redacted and deleted after 90 days).
(d) Website analytics
On akari-oss.app we collect, first-party only: pages viewed, referrer site (domain only), campaign URL parameters, country, device/OS type, and display language. We use no cookies or cross-site identifiers, and no third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics.
(e) Email
For announcement emails we record link clicks (to understand which announcements are useful) and delivery failures (bounces). We do not use open-tracking pixels.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service (including bug fixing and aggregate usage statistics)
- To process billing and manage credits
- To provide customer support
- To send important service notifications
We never sell your data for marketing purposes.
4. External transmission disclosure
Our website and desktop application transmit the following information from your device (disclosed in accordance with Article 27-12 of the Japanese Telecommunications Business Act):

No data is sent to third-party advertising or analytics services.
5. Third-party services
The Service uses: Cloudflare (hosting and database), Stripe (payment processing), OpenRouter (AI processing relay), and Resend (email delivery). Please refer to each provider's website for their privacy policies.
6. Opt-out
You can disable usage-data transmission at any time in the desktop app under "Settings → General → Send usage data". Once disabled, no telemetry is sent.
7. Data retention
Raw usage logs are aggregated and archived after approximately 90 days, after which only statistics are retained. Account information is deleted after account closure except where retention is legally required.
